About a week ago Max started occasionally creeping forward on his belly.
Two days ago he finally moved more than just a couple of inches forward in his army crawl.
Yesterday, he started crawling....belly off the floor, all the way across the room.
He is thrilled to say the least. He was getting quite frustrated at his lack of mobility.
Sweet Maya still seems quite content to sit peacefully and play with a toy. She is also getting in teeth number 4 and 5.
I spent the day vacuuming up all the crumbs that Max is now able to find and put in his mouth.

dear uncle mike
Dear Uncle Mike,
Thank you for lending me your Mikey doll. I like to call him my Uncle Mikey doll. I like to fall asleep while snuggling, but Mom said that Maya and I have to sleep in separate beds now that we both wiggle so much. Having an Uncle Mikey doll helps me feel better when I am falling asleep. This is now I do it.....
First I play with his hair,

....and then I fall asleep. Do you think they would let you have a Max doll in the Navy?

san jacinto
We spent Saturday soaking in a little Texas heritage. For those of you who didn't know Texas use to be its own country and the Battle of San Jacinto was the one that won this independence. The battle grounds are now a National Historic Landmark. After seeing the monument and the battleship Texas that is also nearby we went to lunch (at the recommendation of Emily, thanks!) at the Monument Inn. We tried fried alligator for the first time and enjoyed a nice view of the harbor.

I think Max is starting to catch up.
Amber and I think that Max and Zane kind of look alike and we aren't the only ones. Once when we were out together someone asked me if they were all my kids. Considering Zane is only six months older than Max and Maya this would be pretty amazing, not to mention crazy. But they do look like the could be brothers.

a letter to our fans
Dear family and friends (specifically Nana and Papa, Aunt Lisa and Uncle Lee, Aunt Lisa K, Auntie Aimee, and anyone else who is considering a visit to Texas),
Just in case mom and dad haven't been able to convince you yet, we decided to put up a post on our blog and let you know that WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO COME VISIT!!! There are lots of reasons you should come spend some time with us here in Texas. Here is our top ten list.
1. We are REALLY cute kids, just ask our mom.
2. We really like to snuggle, and no matter how hard mom and dad try we can never get enough snuggle time.
3. It is really fun going places with us. Even going to the grocery store feels like you are in a parade when you are a red-head twin. Everyone wants to stop and talk to you.
4. We promise not to bite too hard when we nub on your cheeks and chin.
5. Texas is a great place to visit this time of year. It is nice and warm but not too hot. We can go to the park, visit the alligators, and eat BBQ.
6. We want to get to know you better because we live so far away.
7. We are twins so we are used to sharing our toys.
8. We are working on all sorts of new skills that we can show you - we are really good at jumping, we are learning how to crawl, and, most importantly, we are really good at putting things into our mouths.
9. We are sleeping through the night (at least most of the time) and that means we won't wake you up in the middle of the night.
10. If you don't come, we might just get upset and start whining...you wouldn't want that would you?
