skills
These kids have skills.
Maya has been crawling for about three weeks now. The babies follow each other around the house and seem to like to occupy the same space. They are now working together to find new places to destroy.

Max also started walking last Sunday. He also was so proud of the accomplishment that he repeated the demonstration several times and has started adding more steps. He is only up to about five or six steps at a time, usually landing on his bum but he is getting more confident. Funny enough he didn't take the steps toward Lonnie or me, he took them away from me towards our friend Jill who came over dinner.
The babies also love to play pat-a-cake. If I even say pat-a-cake they will start clapping. Max also likes to wave and now stands near the window to wave good be when Daddy goes to work. Maya waves when she feels like it.

big rain storm
We had a big rain storm yesterday. This is a view from our front door to the river that formed in the street. Thankfully, the storm drains in this area are ready for this type of weather and within an hour the water receded.

easter
We have a nice quite Easter weekend. The babies are still too young for candy and eggs hunts, but I had fun getting them dressed up. Maya wore a puffy new polka dot dress that I bought last Christmas and Nana gave Max a new pair of overalls.
We had a wonderful Sacrament service at church. The music and talks were inspirational. We invited a new family in our ward over for dinner and their little girls searched for eggs in the back yard. Max and Maya were trilled with the company.

The babies get pretty worn out at church. Our meetings are from 9am-12pm, right in the middle of nap time, this past Sunday they both stayed awake the whole time and them passed out on the three minute drive home.
Photo of Maya asleep in her daddy's arms. This is a pretty unusual experience, she normally will only sleep in her crib, in the dark, with her silky blanket pulled over her head.

Saturday night, while Lonnie sat at the kitchen table and prepared his lesson for church, I dyed eggs by myself. Maybe next year the babies will be old enough to make a mess dying Easter eggs. Using inspiration from Kaerlig, I was able to imprint leaves onto the eggs. I think they turned out pretty good.

painted churches
On our way out to Austin we stopped to see some of the Painted Churches. We didn't know much about them and we were a little disappointed when we thought they looked like normal small town churches, but them we went inside. They were beautiful.

breaking out of his cage
This is how I found Max today when I went in to check on him during the morning nap. He has fallen asleep in his crib sitting up a couple times in the last couple of weeks.

Thankfully, the babies usually are good sleepers. They know that the crib is for sleeping, and as soon as I put them in beds, they wiggle around until they find a comfy spot and then fall asleep. Lately, Max has been testing out his abilities and is now pulling himself up in his crib. I think it is the thrill of his new mobility. Not only is he crawling, but he is also holding on to walls and roaming through the house. His favorite spot seems to be under the kitchen table, probably due to the abundance of Cherrios that can be found there.
I took the babies to the doctor's office today. They have had runny noses and coughs for a couple weeks now. During the past week, their coughs have gotten worse. Last night, Max had a high fever. The doctor said they both have ear infections. Hopefully, they will start feeling better soon.
