going bananas

I decided to give Max a frozen banana hoping that it would help with teething pain. I thought he would just nub on the end of it and get a little relief from his pain. Once the banana was in his mouth he went crazy. He nubed and nubbed, crying when we would take it away, until it was gone.

  1. hey, it's Ann again as Brian (too hard to log out because then it kicks me off google reader, etc) Have you seen those mesh things you can put food in and let your kids chew on? They are usually in grocery store baby sections and baby specialty stores for sure. They can go through the dishwasher and Colin did love exporing new tastes that way (without the chocking hazard so common to little ones). I like the frozen banana idea, and Max looks very well supervised. Any frozen fruit would be good, and the little mesh thing would help keep the mess down. I need to get one for Jane sometime since Colin's got gross and I threw it out. Check it out if you understand what I mean, and you will know when you see it.

  2. We have one of those. I tried it out with chopped up frozen breastmilk- hoping the kids would go for a breastmilk popsicle, but they weren't very interested. Maybe it was texture, clearly Max does not have an issue with the cold. :)

  3. This totally takes me back to Yaguate when we would eat frozen bananas in that horrible roach infested kitchen. I still love them but it has NEVER occurred to me to use them as teething aids. Where were you six years ago with my first!!!!

  4. That's awesome! Addison LOVES bananas too, and like Max (& probably all babies) screams when the banana goes away!

Addi finally popped out two teeth this week & learned to sit up all on her own. Babies are amazing & yours are soooo cute! Love the penguin pics in the next post!
