how to give a toddler a hair cut

I gave Max his first real hair cut today. His hair was getting a little out of control and with the heat it ended up getting all sweaty and gross at times.

Pre hair cut photo:

Scissors, comb, cardboard box and some sort of entertainment.

Sit baby in the cardboard box with some sort of entertainment to distract them. I used the laptop with youtube.
Maya kept trying to take the scissors away from me so I put her in the box with Max. (It is going to be a while before Maya gets her first hair cut.

All the hair left in the box

The finished product:

  1. First haircuts always made me tear up but he looks sooo cute! Great job!

  2. creative! i love it. what's stopping Maya's follicles from sprouting?

  3. Alisa you are so smart - what a great way to 'keep' them still!

(I used to. . . well I was going to tell you how I use to give my kiddos haircuts, but as I think about it I'm too embarrassed to write it in a public forum?!)

Max looks great! And one day Maya will have long red locks that clog up the bathtub drains and are all through everything - but they will be beautiful!

(I was a baldy as a baby, but my hair came in no problem and was my best physical feature when I was younger - now it's getting a bit too white and washed out, but hey, I had great natural color while it lasted.)

    Love you guys,
    Aunt Lisa in TN

  4. What a great idea to put them in the box.
Max looks great in that last photo! Very cute!!!

  5. Wow. I gave Michelle her first haircut and vowed I would never do that again. You look like you have the magic touch tho. He looks great.
