Moving to New Zealand....

We are moving to New Zealand!!! We got an offer this week, and this morning Lonnie formally accepted the offer. Lonnie will need to start work in January, so we have a lot to get done in the next couple of months. We are thrilled, scared, and overwhelmed with everything we need to do.....sell the house, move our storage to Utah, sell the cars, get visas, etc.

Neither one of us have ever been to New Zealand, but everyone we have talked to has told us great things. Thankfully, the kids are young enough that they don't get too much say in things at this point, but we think even they will love it. We are looking forward to the adventure.

We would love any contacts, congratulations, advice, etc.

Read the story of how it happened in the previous post.....

  1. Yeah! This announcement does merit some BIG congratulations!!! What an adventure :)
Having lived outside the US as a kid for a LOOOONG time, I'd say it is a grand opportunity not only to explore somewhere new but also to gain an even deeper appreciation for our country. It was an incredible experience for our family.
As far as contacts, I had a pen-pal from New Zealand growing up. They had a sheep farm but I couldn't tell you where nor her name anymore so sorry. Maybe your company will assign you a, what did they call it in the military? Oh yeah, a sponsor to show you around & help you settle in. That was very helpful I remember. Also you've got the church so there's a ready made connection!
I'm so excited for you. I can't wait to read your blogs from your new home. Good luck getting everything prepared to go!!! :)

  2. WOW!! Good for you! I spent a month in New Zealand and I absolutely loved every single minute of it. What island are you moving to? Where are you moving to? Can I just say that I am envious and wish that I was going.

  3. Wow! Congratulations guys! You will definitely be missed here in Katy. I'm glad we got to know you guys and had another family in the ward to discuss the joys and struggles of twin parenting. We still owe you a baby sit. I guess I'll have to find some other Ute to talk football smack to. Good luck, and God bless.

  4. I am so happy for you. Sad for me. I will miss you guys a lot. Even tho we didn't hang out as much as I hoped, I loved see you at church. Your twins were always so cute with Megan. Let me know if I can help you in any way. Like take the twins or come over and watch them so you can get things packed when it's time.

  5. I can't wait to see photos of the twins in knitted sweaters! Stock up on those as you'll probably only have a fire in the middle of the house for heat. I'll make you some hottie covers! I'm so excited!!!
